Join Northern Europe’s most passionate BBQ team! We’re looking for a Head Chef to lead our committed team of BBQ enthusiasts. You will be responsible for running our kitchen and delivering the very best food that a Smokehouse can offer - working with and leading the team to deliver an authentic BBQ Menu in Oslo. 


Way Down South is a traditional American BBQ joint in the heart of Oslo, Norway. Our mission is to bring the tradition and spirit of American Southern hospitality and smoked meats way up north. In the last few years, it has become one of the most established barbecue restaurants in northern Europe in terms of growth, quality, and public success. We offer premium smoked meats including Brisket, Beef Short Ribs, St. Louis Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Smoked Chicken, & Sausages along with classic sides and desserts.


Job Description, Duties, Requirements:

As the head chef you’re responsible for ensuring the food is prepared and cooked efficiently while maintaining quality. You will also be in charge of the kitchen, which means scheduling and delegating tasks to your kitchen staff. Requirements:

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team

  • Extensive knowledge of food handling, preparation, and cooking techniques

  • Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes

  • Manage multiple menu options, and be passionate about delivering the best Southern Slow n’ Low BBQ food in town.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

  • Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

  • Solid understanding of food service management principles, including cost control and menu planning

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality

  • Degree in Culinary science or related certificate
